Keyboard layout for chess annotation with special symbols in Windows programs via AutoHotkey
script
If the wish may exist to use the special symbols listed below in Windows programs that allow the selection of
a special font, an attempt may be made to
use a QWERTY keyboard with an AltGr key;
download here the font AqChessUnicode, if it is not already installed in Windows (which should
already be the case after the installation of the chess GUI Aquarium) and
download and install the free program AutoHotkey from the Internet and download and run
the script file 'keyboard-layout.ahk' from this website.
This will monitor the AltGr key in the background and output a special symbol (usually a special chess symbol –
here or here) each time it is pressed in conjunction with another key.
The program/script and the behaviour of the AltGr key caused by this is terminated by the key combination
Shift + Esc key.
If a program such as Scid vs. PC refuses to cooperate when commenting via AltGr, an attempt can be made to
bypass this obstruction by means of a text program such as Notepad, selection of the font AqChessUnicode,
annotating via AltGr, selection, Ctrl-c and in the chess annotation program Ctrl-v.
The special symbols in detail - there stand for
the 1st character for the selected key,
the 2nd character after the "→" for the special symbol to be output,
the 1st number for the decimal Unicode number of the special symbol,
the 2nd number for the hexadecimal Unicode number of the special symbol,
"./." for: undefined character in HTML and therefore not presentable on the Internet:
